Imagine you are sitting behind a table, with a blank sheet of paper, new sharp pencil in hand, and your creative genius is flowing widely. Now think, where are you? …That’s right, The Chuck Jones Big Draw!
Surrounded with some of the greatest cartoonist/artists made learning how to sketch, draw, paint, sculpt, design, and to over all have fun, the Chuck Jones way a priceless experience that had no age limit. With over 300 creative minds working you can imagine the joy and energy in this 18,000sq ft. venue. Chuck Jones once said, “Once you have heard a strange audience burst into laughter at a film you directed, you realize what the word joy is all about.” I can say first hand the laughter and smiles were in excess throughout each station and a shear sign of joy was seen on every face.
Everywhere you looked you would find something to do, whether it was learning the tricks of photography with Val Westover and Stephanie Adriana or learning how to sketch storyboard with one of the Simpsons artists, Stephan Reis.
Towards the end of the day, The Chuck Jones Big Draw attempted to break the world record for largest Bugs Bunny sketch class. 150 children, teenagers, and adults sitting down to learn the secret of drawing the one and only Bugs Bunny via a video tutorial from Chuck Jones himself!
I wish to thank the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity and EventComplete for the amazing event put on; it changed my perspective on cartoons and unleashed my creative genius. The Chuck Jones Big Draw is over, but keep an eye out for more amazing possibilities everywhere you go… That’s not all folks!
If you did not attend the first “Chuck Jones Big Draw” event on May 22nd then we better see you this summer. We are pleased to announce our next event on August 7, 2011 at the South Coast Collection in Costa Mesa! We had such a great turnout last time and enjoyed making Ipad Art, sketches and more…so we are ready to take art to the next level.
P.S. stay tuned to hear about the “World Record” that we are aiming to break!

When you hear some one say, “What’s up, Doc?” typically you will think of the classic animated charcter, Bugs Bunny. Chuck Jones helped create and bring to life Bugs Bunny along with many other popular characters; Elmer Fudd, Porky the Pig, Pepe Le Pew and The Grinch who stole Christmas to name a few. We have teamed up with the staff at The Chuck Jones Center for Creativity and will have our first creative art workshop, “The Chuck Jones Big Draw.” We want children of all ages to learn how to spark their creativity and use their imagination in their everyday lives. Parents of students who have attended previous classes through The Chuck Jones Center of Creativity have had nothing but inspirational feedback.
“My child really enjoyed this class and would look forward to it every week! And it helps to take the place of non-existent art programs in public schools”
The Chuck Jones Big Draw will be held on May 22, 2011 at the Irvine Marriott. Details are coming soon!
