You heard it first… Roger L. As the owner of Golden Spoon, Roger provides the vision and strategic direction for the worldwide expansion of the Golden Spoon brand. Under his guidance, the Golden Spoon chain has grown from 22 units in 2000 to more than 130 units now open in four western states and three foreign countries (Japan, Philippines and Canada) in 2011. By 2015, Golden Spoon is expected to have more than 200 units open and an additional 500 units under contract for opening within the decade. Golden Spoon is the third largest retailer worldwide is the frozen yogurt industry.

In March of 2011, Roger and Ed Evans, the President at Golden Spoon, purchased the company from Jeff Barnes, founder and former owner since 1983. The franchising arm of Golden Spoon was formed in February 2007. Prior to building the franchising company, Roger served as Managing Director of Golden Spoon, Inc. (GSI), the original licensing company for the brand owned by Jeff Barnes, a pioneer in the frozen yogurt industry.

Prior to joining Golden Spoon, Roger was an Executive Sales Manager at Fortune Brands/Master Lock, where he provided services to clients such as Home Depot and Lowes. He also spent several years as a Sales Manager for Black & Decker. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southern Utah University where he also participated in Division II athletics for two years as a member of the football team. He started his college football career at the University of Utah where he played three seasons prior to transferring to SUU. He also served a mission for the LDS Church in Argentina in the mid-80’s.

He is focused on broadening the reach of the chain’s core values, which include: premium quality products, providing a healthy option and building upon the company’s 30-year heritage.
